Full stair carpet or a stair runner?
Full stair carpet covers each step from wall to wall. It softens footsteps, feels warm underfoot and links the staircase visually to the hallway and bedrooms. It suits indoor family staircases.
A stair runner is a strip down the middle of the steps that leaves the sides visible, so the marble or wood still shows. It suits wide staircases and villa entrances, and can be cut from the same designs as our hallway runners.
How to measure your stairs
- Measure the step width from wall to wall, or the runner width you want.
- Measure the tread depth from the front edge (nose) to the back.
- Measure the riser height.
- Count the steps, and measure any landing.
Approximate area = step width × (tread + riser) × number of steps, plus the landing.
How much does it cost to carpet stairs?
Example: 14 steps, each 1 m (3.3 ft) wide, with a 28 cm (11 in) tread and a 17 cm (6.7 in) riser. Area = 1 × (0.28 + 0.17) × 14 = 6.3 m² (68 sq ft). Lightweight carpet costs 7.9 to 18.9 KWD (1.250 to 3 KWD per m²), and thicker carpet 31.5 to 94.5 KWD (5 to 15 KWD per m²), before installation. The actual price depends on the material you choose.
Choosing carpet for stairs
Pile. The step nose takes more wear than any other spot in the house. A dense, short pile keeps its shape there better than a long, loose one.
Colour. Heathered and mid tones (beige, grey, brown) hide dust and footprints. White and very light shades need more frequent cleaning on stairs.
Continuity. If the stairs lead to a hallway and bedrooms, using the same carpet for all three gives the home a continuous look.

Do you install stair carpet and stair treads?
Yes, we install the stair carpet we supply and choose the fixing method for your stairs at the site visit. Installation is agreed by area and location, and we follow up for two days afterwards. We do not install carpet bought elsewhere.
Can the stairs and bedrooms use the same carpet?
Yes. Carpet is sold by the metre and cut to size, so the stairs, the upstairs hallway and the bedrooms can share the same material and colour for a continuous look.
